There are rowing machines, and then there is the GRONK M1. This limited edition model is definitely a high-end machine of perfection, and it’s considered professional-grade. Ideal for a home and a gym, the M1 replicates the feel of water rowing like very few other models can.
Handcrafted, the flywheel is enclosed in a water tank and offers self-regulated resistance.
Let’s take a look at the pros and cons of this model before diving into our review.
- True water rowing experience
- Includes Series 4 Monitor
- Extra-tall seat
- Handcrafted, quality design
The only complaint that we had is that this model is expensive. While not much of a concern for someone with a high budget, low and mid-range budgets will want to look elsewhere.
Design and Features
Designed for gym use but perfect for the home user, the M1 is able to withstand users of up to 1,000 pounds. The quality of this machine is unsurpassed, and the machine was designed for users of up to 6’9”. If you’re taller than this, you may miss out on the full range of motion that this unit offers.
Older users will find that the rowing seat is a little higher than the standard, with an overall height of 30” for the machine. A higher seat allows users to get on and off of the machine with less strain.
Comfort is superb, with the handlebar and seat both adequately padded. The grips on the handlebar are firm and textured to prevent slippage when rowing.
Foot straps are present on the footplates to keep your feet secure and in place when rowing.
When it’s time to begin rowing, you’ll need to fill the water reservoir before rowing for the first time. Inside of the water flywheel are “paddles” that allow for a swish of water much like you would experience on the water. And when you row faster, the resistance level is increased automatically.
Water resistance allows for limitless strength and fitness potential.
With near-silent construction, you can use this machine at all times of the day and night without fear of waking up your kids, wife or husband. The M1 also features the famous S4 monitoring system that most high-end models offer.
The S4 will allow you to bring your rowing session to the next level. This monitor provides you with:
- Quick-start options
- Calories burned
- Stroke rate
- Heart rate monitoring (optional)
- Distance (km, m, mph)
Users can store up to 9 manual programs, connect to a PC to download apps, use zone features, and do so much more right on the S4.
One of the world’s most advanced models, the GRONK M1 spares no costs to bring you a model that can be used for decades without ever needing to be replaced. From the handcrafted design to the comfort, fluid motion and the S4 performance monitor, this is perfect for beginners and professional athletes alike.
